SHOULD YOU TAKE PART-TIME WORK WHILE JOB HUNTING?
Mar 26, 2025A common question I get:
"Should I take up part-time work or consulting while searching for a full-time job?"
My answer? Absolutely!
And here’s why:
1. Less Financial Stress, More Confidence
Job searches can take 6-9 months (sometimes more). Having a side gig keeps some money coming in—which means when you interview, you’re not operating from a place of desperation.
2. Stay in the Game
Consulting or part-time work keeps you active in your industry, networking, and learning. The longer you’re engaged, the sharper your skills—and the stronger your mindset.
3. Real Experience Beats Certifications
As a recruiter, I’d always pick someone with real-world experience (even part-time) over someone with just online courses.
4. Hustlers Get Hired
People who find consulting gigs prove they’re resourceful and proactive—which makes them stand out.
So if you’re on the fence about part-time work, go for it. It’s not a distraction—it’s an advantage.
All the best in your job search!
