I hear so much about the “ATS friendly” resume and the formatting fear.

Don’t let misinformation scare you!

Sharing a quick 30-second test that will show you how your resume will be parsed by even the most basic Application Tracking System in the market. (ATS is the online tool organizations use to screen resumes in the first step).

Once you have created your resume, save it in plain text format (.txt). It will open in a notepad editor!

The way the resume appears on the notepad is the way online ATS will be parsing and making sense of it.

So instead of purchasing expensive resume templates, keep your format simple.

As long as it appears exactly as it is supposed to in plain text format, you don’t have to bother about the formatting for ATS.

Remember, content is king, and having the right keywords helps in getting shortlisted.

Ultimately, it is the human on the other side who needs to get what you bring to the table
