
HOW TO WIN YOUR SALARY NEGOTIATION - WITHOUT THE STRESS
Feb 26, 2025Salary negotiations can feel like high-stakes poker.
One of my senior-level clients recently reached the final stages for a big role and asked me:
"How do I navigate salary negotiation without underselling myself?"
We did a few role-plays, tackled different angles, but my biggest advice to her—and to you—is this:
1. Don’t Negotiate Immediately
When you get the offer, your instinct might be to respond right away. Don’t. Instead, ask questions.
Get clarity on the total package—bonus, benefits, perks, and growth opportunities.
2. Buy Yourself Time
Feeling pressured? Simply say:
"I appreciate the offer! I’d love to take some time to review it and get back to you."
This gives you breathing room to analyze the offer and build your case.
3. Build Your Business Case
Once off the call, take a step back. Research benchmarks, evaluate your worth, and prepare a compelling case for why you deserve more.
Remember: The first offer is rarely the best offer. With the right strategy, you can negotiate confidently and secure what you truly deserve.
