BUILDING RELATIONSHIP AFTER FIRST MEETING
Nov 13, 2024A client recently asked
"Shub, I am good with networking with people, interviewing and in general most things needed for job search. However, I struggle with staying in touch with people and having multiple conversations."
In my experience too, most people can get that first meeting, but then that's it!
No further interactions.
In true coaching style, I asked him to refer to his experience as well as all our conversations, videos on YouTube and other content on my LinkedIN and Newsletter to just brainstorm with me his preferred ways
Within a matter of minutes, he came up with 5 solid ways of doing this!
So, here is me sharing the ways he came up with (and a bonus tip from my side)
1. Comment on their LinkedIn post
2. What clicked with them when you had a conversation? {Think about what works for you to remember this - I have a Master Google sheet}
3. Check in if you see something about their organization
4. Pinging {Basically checking on them without any specific reason. "Just thought of you...." I know someone who shares memes to build his relationships with senior CxOs}
5. Wishing on Festivals or occasions
6. End of year thank you {This has been my annual exercise. Sending them an email about your life updates or simply thanking them for making a difference in their life}
I would love to hear if you recommend anything else for consistently building relationships!
